What Dog Breeds Raise Homeowners Insurance?
- 15 POINTSview profileAngela SmithPresident, Smith Insurance Services, Inc., IndianaNormally, you do not see an increase in premiums for particular breeds of dogs. It becomes an issue of whether or not your application is "acceptable" to the insurance company. There are usually two questions asked on an application for homeowners insurance - if you own any pets ... if so, what type and breed. Some breeds, i.e. pit bulls, are an automatic decline.Answered on June 22, 2013flag this answer

Some companies don't mind any dog breed such as Farmers we do not care about the breed as long as it has not bitten anyone and if it has we will ask for an exclusion and will not cover the dog under your home owners. We also have pet insurance.Answered on March 17, 2016flag this answer
