Yes, Medicare will provide coverage for a kidney transplant. Please note, how Medicare pays and how long the coverage will be for can vary based on a number of factors such as if you're under 65 and on Medicare due to End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), if you're 65 or older and already on Medicare, etc. There's a guidebook on Medicare's website that provides the specific coverage guidelines for each situation regarding kidney treatments called "Medicare Coverage of Kidney Dialysis & Kidney Transplant Services". The link to the page is below: https://www.medicare.gov/Pubs/pdf/10128.pdf You should have both Medicare Part A & Part B in force and I would highly, highly recommend having a Medicare supplement plan to cover the gaps in coverage Part A & Part B don't cover. In short, your Part A & Part B coverage only covers about 80% of the expenses. That other 20% can become a very high dollar amount after all is said and done. Medicare will indeed pay for a kidney transplant as Peggy indicated. If you have ESRD and are on dialysis, Medicare will cover the cost of your dialysis begining in the 4th month after your Medicare benefits begin. In some cases dialysis will be covered in the first month provided you meet certain conditions. If you do have a transplant paid for by Medicare, they will only cover your anti-rejection medication for 3 years.

Yes, Medicare will pay for Kidney Transplant. Between Medicare Part A and B, it pays for kidney registry fee, tests for the kidney recipient and potential donors, and other costs of finding a kidney. It will pay for all costs for the donor, as well as the surgery, blood, and immunosuppressant drugs for the person receiving the transplant.
