It depends upon the source of the water damage, the type of policy you have and whether the house is abandoned.

To make this answer easier, lets assume that you have a Homeowners 3 policy and the house is either occupied or vacant (some furniture and presence).

Water damage from a burst pipe: typically your homeowners insurance will water damage from a burst pipe, however it will not cover the damaged pipe. You can get an endorsement to cover the damaged pipes.

Water damage from rain/hail/wind: this will only be covered on a basic homeowners policy if the rain/hail caused the hole in the roof that lead to the water damage in your bathroom. Once again, you can get an endorsement to cover rain/hail/wind damage.

Water damage from sewer backup or sump-pump failure: if the bathroom is in the basement and the water damage if from sewer backup or sump-pump failure you can only get coverage for this IF you have the appropriate endorsement - sewer and water backup. Please note that this is typically a sub-limit in your policy and goes towards both cleanup and replacement.

I hope this helps.
