Insurance is sufficient when it completely covers a claim. If the limits of the policy are exhausted before the claim is satisfied your other assets will be at risk. Property, bank accounts and other assets could be called upon to satisfy the claim. Some people have few assets and plan to declare bankruptcy.

Sufficient is relative to the person using the term. Each state has its' own minimum requirements if auto insurance is required in that state. Personally I do not recommend anything less than 100/300 coverage to any one that I talk to about auto insurance. You could potentially have your coverage as low ast 15/25 or as high as 1000/1000 with many companies. To best decide what would be best for you contact your local agent to discuss your coverage needs.
