It is common for insurers to promote significant discounts for car insurance alarms but the reality is the credit applies to a small portion of your coverage (comprehensive). On an annual basis, the credit may be only $15-25. For certain models considered a high theft risk, insurers may require an alarm before they will even consider providing coverage.

In return for the credit, make sure you are not accepting a warranty which voids coverage if your alarm is not activated when your car is left unattended.

A car alarm will reduce your auto insurance rates. Depending on the type of alarm (passive, active, etc...) the discount is likely to be approximately 5%-25%, depending on the carrier. Also, the discount may not apply to the entire premium.

Get ALL of the discounts you are entitled to by working with an experienced car insurance broker. No charges or fees!
